DC Real Estate News: Summer means slow market? Maybe not...

Summer means slow market? Maybe not...

"Where have you been?"; asks one fellow Active Rain member.  Yes It's quite obvious I have not been posting much in the past few weeks.  Why you ask?  Because I have been VERY busy!

Many Realtors see summer as a slow time of the year.  A time for vacation and working 1/2 days.  A time when less Buyers are buying and fewer sellers are selling -- well that may not be the case now - there are plenty of listings to keep Realtors busy; but with no buyers; what is one to do?

Well I have not been on vacation; I have been selling!  In the past week I have ratified 2 new buyer contracts; taken 2 new listings and wrote a lease on a rental property I have listed.  Plus several other buyers I have spoken with and begun the home search process with.

Summer may mean less buyers; but it can also be a great time for buyers to get a deal.  With so much inventory and those homes that are on the market getting fewer and fewer showings; the serious sellers will and do drop their price.

That is just what the serious buyer is waiting for...

So here's to a successful summer!  It may be all work and little play - but don't worry; I have some nice vacations planned for when the colder weather heads to our Nations Capitol!

James:  Amen!  I have been slammed as well.  It's great to be busy, no matter what the time of year.

James, I agree.  I've also had 2 contracts ratified in the past week and a half, 2 settlements, and 3 or 4 new buyers.  No rest for the weary...

Jim - That is interesting to hear.  It is the opposite here in Austin (summer is traditionally the busiest season for us).  I am glad to see that you are busy, too!  Congrats!

Good for you, James!  I'm glad you are having a lot of business right now!  It is nice to be missed, though, isn't it.

This summer has been going like gangbusters in my office.  Every agents seems slammed busy with both buyers and sellers.  It doesn't necessarily make up for the slow first 6 months of the year... but it's definitely a start and trending in the right direction!

Things are busy.  Of course I'm re-inventing myself at the moment so we'll see when I re-emerge.

I have been extremely busy this summer as well. Don't know what it is but I am not complaining.
